The Natural Park of the D’Ampezzo Dolomites, created in 1990, covers an area of 11,000 hectares north of Cortina and is one of the fourth largest regional parks in the Veneto region. It borders the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Park, forming a protected area of 37,000 hectares. The creation of this park has greatly encouraged cultural and scientific activities in the area, as well as safeguarding the area and its culture.
